4.2Gt INITIAL TAKATOKWANE RESOURCE
NEWS ARTICLE - 4.2Gt INITIAL TAKATOKWANE RESOURCE
Nimrodel Resources Ltd has received an independent resource estimate for the Takatokwane thermal-coal project in Botswana, in which it holds a 70% interest, that defined 4,230Mt (4.2Gt) of coal within inferred resources. Consultant Optiro found that the raw coal could be treated to recover 57% of the total (using a flotation process at a specific gravity of 1.6), for a 'washed' resource of 2,395Mt. The washed material was found to contain about 44% fixed carbon, 8.6% moisture, 16.5% ash and a calorific value of 23MJ/kg. The calculation was part of an ongoing scoping study, scheduled for completion during the March 2012 quarter. The resource was identified within four coal seams, on the basis of a 1.5m seam-thickness cut-off. The top of the uppermost seam was intersected between about 70m and 127m from surface and averaged 2.2m in thickness, while the top of the lowermost seam was intersected between about 124m and 200m from surface, averaging 2.3m in thickness. Nimrodel has signed an agreement to earn a 65% interest in an adjacent area, which it considered was prospective for further mineralisation, in return for completing a drilling programme and a scoping study.
