Optiro is a group of experienced mining professionals that have come together to provide an innovative and flexible mining consultancy providing specialist mining engineering, operational optimisation, geological and business consulting to a diverse range of resource companies of all sizes operating in Africa, Asia, Australia, South America and Europe.

The Role
The role is a leadership position within the consultancy, taking responsibility for technical excellence, first class service delivery, business development and client support. The successful candidate will join a small group of principals who set the pace in the business, identifying and closing on opportunities, supporting the staff of mining and geology specialists and building relationships with our clients and support organisations.The role will suit an engineer who has operational open-pit experience and confidence in their planning and analysis capabilities. With an initial focus on open-pit projects and our current client base, the Principal Consultant will be encouraged to pursue opportunities to expand the Optiro business into new areas that are of interest and support the business direction.
The role is Perth based with occasional travel within Australia and Internationally as required by each project.
Your Contribution
You will have a degree in mining engineering with over 15 years of experience showing a good balance between operational, technical and management exposure. You will be asked to lead or be a constructive member of small teams of skilled professionals. You will value what our clients value - technical excellence, delivery on commitments and a thoughtful, open-minded approach. You will be able to draw on your industry contacts to increase awareness of Optiro's offering and increase our potential client base.Our Contribution
Remuneration is industry based with the final value appropriate to your experience level and potential to develop the business. Hours are generally regular office hours but may require some adjustment to meet the needs of specific projects. You will be supported by a peer group of seasoned industry professionals.

Consultant (Mining)
The ideal candidate will have 7 to 10 years experience in underground and/or open-pit environments. Your experience will include operational and technical responsibilities and participation in mining studies. As a consultant, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to develop an understanding of client needs are essential characteristics. A recognised tertiary mining qualification, membership or potential to become a member of the AusIMM and good mining software skills are a requirement for this position.
Consultant (Resource Evaluation)
We are looking for a candidate with between 5 and 10 years experience with ideally a mixture of operational and technical/evaluation skills. Desirable qualities are a strong work ethic, the ability to understand client needs and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work in small teams (including client representatives) is also highly sought-after. You will have AusIMM membership or the ability to obtain it, and will be able to qualify as a competent person. Your mining software skills will be exceptional. The location will be in Perth with some travel.
Principal and Consultant (Optimisation)
Optiro is looking for 2 team members who can contribute to operational optimisation projects through the application of skills and experience in mining operations, business improvement techniques and creative thinking. Experience level, qualifications and communication skills should be sufficient to give credibility to this individual’s contributions in a diverse range of operational situations.
